they keep calling people without noble titles "commoners" I mean, terms like "mere peasants, back-alley beggars, lowly commoners". Idris keeps saying that commoners are humans too, but she is also one of those people who uses terms like the one I said "back-alley beggars". I mean she may be kind but, as kind as she may be, she is also one of those nobles who look down on commoners. I mean not in a bad way, but the pitying way. And that's kind of like borderline discrimination ig......
I think they use that wording to show how much they have fallen from grace. Because just like other Nobles they are obsessed with their status and their bloodline. They could have used the word homeless but that wouldn't give you the same picture as as a back alley beggar. And the husband even said that she was treated even worse than a commoner like she wasn't even human ( I don't even know how that could mess with your psyche and your mental state)
From my point of view, it's not about the implication of their downfall, rather how the terms were more of a "so used term" for those unprivileged. it's the evidence of their supremacy using their noble title, how those terms are ultimately leading to "commoners". I mean it's just weird how those terms are implicated to describe and define a "commoner".
