Hmmm, don't think it's wrong. With the VP and Miso, the biggest question was not if they would end up together, but how long would it be before they got together (how many potential men would try to take Miso, how many catty women would show up to conquer the VP, how many misunderstandings there would be between them before it all would get resolved, etc).
With the president you didn't know if they would actually keep addressing his marital issues or wait until the every of the novel to say "hey and the president met someone new and they are going steady...", plus we probably thought we wouldn't get to meet the ex wife, and just assume things about her. He's a likable guy, so we want him to be happy and see it happen (not just be told about it as an afterthought).
