i dont think we are in a position to blame her..like imagine this you spend half of your life with the person you love have a child with him and think that in the persons eyes you are their everything...you are a happy family..then someone comes and tells you that all of it was fake..at first you would deny it..just like she did..but when confronted with the evidence i think he got heart broken... i dont think you or anyone can relate to this cause this in those days..but just think that you have a loving uhsband who does everything for you loves you but then he is caught by the police and is exposed to be a serial killer ..and that you were just a mask for him to use..of course she should not have sold her child but then again it was such a time when people were more sensitive to this..and i dont think she knew he was going to be killed

oh thanks..i would really like to be an author but with my asian parents and the 3 weekly exams my school conducts..i have my plate filled already..sigh

She could be rationalizing it away "while this person looks similar, the actual person is so busy. There's no way they could be one and the same"
Or because she has preconceptions about him, there's no way someone nice could've been him. Etc etc.
People do it IRL. It's not hard to think that someone fictional could :)

there is also how she is somehow not recognizing the emperor's voice when she is with Ran. She got chills in the past when hearing his voice, and even without seeing him, she knew who he was. How could she not recognize it when it's just slapped on some dude that has the same exact features as the emperor and not make that connection??? (￣∇￣")
