We're currently in the fourth volume of the novel in ch71 and since Cárcel realized just how much Inés wants to get pregnant so he will now stop using birth control.
In the fifth volume, Inés will find out about the contraceptives and she was so angry she almost had a panic attack, but she wasn't mad at him for that long and they they start to make love even more frequently after that to try for a baby.
She gets pregnant at volume six (it's quite a stressful pregnancy, might I add). So yeah, still quite a long way to go.
