I think author want to potray sangmin as a villain too much. Well he is a bad person but he was a monster created by his own father, just like the fairy said he was hard on himself and carried his father sins.
I thought the author will make a redemption arc for sangmin but there is none, it quite leave a bitter taste to see him alone after all of that, he deserve some happiness too

I agree with you, I was definitely disgusted by all his crimes and wrong doings, but it's hard to hate him knowing it all could have been prevented, had the adults in his life actively protected him. But i think the author wanted to portray the reality of his situation.
