i read from a spoiler that luciano killed that painter ex husband because he was using ines and he planned to leave her and the child.
Spoiler
In order to help Ines, Carcel had devised a plan to bring the child to the painter since the child would not be able to stay with Ines. The important thing was for the painter to leave the scene because it was an extremely dangerous situation. Why was Carcel even there? Because he’s a soldier who was under imperial order to bring the sinner back. Therefore, he disobeyed the imperial order to try to help Ines. If the painter had followed his plan, he might’ve have lived since he had decided he will leave the country altogether with the child after Carcel brought the child. However, the painter didn’t follow the plan and ran back on his own two feet to give Ines the green pendant and that’s when Luciano met him and killed him. If any other soldier but Carcel had met him, they would have killed him too. The deal was to bring Ines back alive to be punished by the imperial family but she would ultimately remain alive. The painter’s life was forfeit because he partook in humiliating the imperial family as well.
So after all that Carcel did to try to save their lives, the painter overthrew the plan. That’s why when he sees Carcel in this current timeline, he will apologize to him for overthrowing his plan.
Thank you for the spoilers
Damn it Emiliano! But I can't blame him too much either..
It is wrong of him to chose his heart instead of the safety of their baby, but he's just a man in love who wants to meet his wife at least once, wishing her not to forget him. Btw isn't that what he did in current timeline? He put that pendant in a town Ines will see. Wishing her to remember him.
Spoiler
Yes, Emiliano wished that she would remember him just like Oscar wishes the same. They’re both alike in this.
That’s why Carcel’s love is by far the best in this story. Carcel loved her in every timeline and his love was unrequited. He didn’t selfishly demand attention from her like both of these men do in this final timeline now that he’s married to her. Yes, the painter left the pendant for Ines to see probably hoping to start something with Ines. Carcel would have never have done that because his expectations towards Ines is always rock bottom. He also always wants Ines to live in peace. Ines will even tell him later on that he always has such low expectations towards her return of affection. That, of course could be instinct because he suffered unrequited love in two previous timelines.
Back in the crown princess TL, when Oscar tormented Carcel and blackmailed him with threats of harming Ines, he endured it all for Ines’s sake so that he could buy Ines even a little peace and safety since she was in Oscar’s hands. Ines had no clue because Carcel stayed far away from her. She said Carcel always looked troubled when he saw her and he never smiled. She had no clue he loved her until she was able to recognize it in his eyes in the flashback to that timeline. Why did he stay away from her? Because he didn’t want any bit of his unrequited love to harm her in any way. Oscar knew he loved her even in that timeline and used to taunt him with it.
What about Ines past lovers? The crown prince wants her to remember him and he will use the painter’s carelessness to entrap her and confirm she has memories. What about the painter? He intentionally and carelessly left a pendant that almost killed Ines. The doctor said if Carcel hadn’t arrived when he did, Ines would have died. Why didn’t the painter continue to pursue this? Because the apostle of God put a stop to his actions by showing him that Ines killed their child and stabbed herself in the neck. That was a wake up call for him. While he’s thinking his life is good because he has an anonymous financial sponsor (Ines), Ines was living through hell because of how traumatized she is after killing her own child. He died and she was left to face everything alone. Like the author said, Ines is like a murderer who cannot forget her guilt for even a moment. So all the havoc they wreak in Ines’s life is left to none other than Carcel to clean up.
By the end of the story, for me personally, Carcel is the one who shines brightly for me because his love for Ines is so beautiful right to the last page. :)
To this age, I become tired with FL having multiple male as love interest. But this story shows the reality of it. There's no mutual understanding to love in silence if FL didn't chose them, there's no unpaid sacrifice just for FL's happiness, there's no male bridge so FL & ML can be together. All the other males who wants Ines only projecting their greeds and wishes, except the ML. That is why ML, Carcel, is special. He's the only who love sincerely and purely.
Spoiler
Indeed. Even when he finds out that he’s Ines’s first husband, he never utters a word to her. It’s on the last pages of the main story that Ines reveals that she knows they were originally husband and wife. It’s only then that Carcel confirms to her that he knows. So Ines realized he knew for a good while and never said anything.
He's the only one who always loves her silently so that his love wouldn't ruin her life. All the other men's love are so greedy and always mess with her life. Oscar trying to hurt or kill the other men she's with and Emiliano leaving the pendant and paintings around causing her to get seizures. Carcel just loved her quietly so she never knew his love and he suffered from loving her quietly too. He always tried to help her and she still always just kill herself. All the other men makes wishes to keep their memories just for them to mess with her life again, but Carcel's wishes in every lifetime was always for her to want to live and be happy.
