Imagine you thinking that all Asians, specifically "white" Americans and Europeans are all the same, sounds kinda degrading doesn't it? Maybe even a bit racist? Aren't we being a tad bit hypocritical here thinking all people of a certain race and color of their skin defines who they are as a person? Think before you type

You really don't know the definition of racism. Prejudice is a word more suited to this. And also, it is a fact that majority of Asian and western countries have a preference towards fair skin and a dislike of dark skin that leads to discrimination. Hence why there is a lot of skin bleaching in majority of Asian countries and discrimination of darker skin people in most western country. So you think before you speak.

By grouping everyone as asians, white Americans and Europeans as racist, she herself (himself) was actually being racist as well. Prejudice is synonymous to racism. I would have agreed if she added the word 'most' e.g 'most asians', 'most Europeans' but she did no such thing so we are to assume that she would be referring to the whole group populace.
As an asian myself, I was certainly hurt, as I hold no such prejudice to darker skinned people, by being associated with such notion. Most people I know don't have that kind of thought as well, and although true that they would rather have lighter colored skin, it is but a matter of preference and not as a means of downgrading dark skin.

You may be hurt by this comment, think of all the people with dark skin who are treated different by society and looked at by lesser than because their melanin. The fact that you get more offend by being called lumped as racist verses the racist acts that occur towards people because of a person's skin color really speaks volumes.

Do correct me if I'm wrong, but are you implying that I shouldn't get hurt because other people are hurting more than I am? What a selfish thing, that is simply akin to telling a depressed person not to feel depressed because there are others who are suffering more than they are, especially since I've never done anything to hurt them at all. I am not trying to cover up or protect those other 'asians' who do degrade those with dark skin. Im just saying don't lump us all together. As much as you don't want 'white' people to judge 'dark' people, is it too much to ask to not categorize people as simply 'racist asians'? If anything, you don't have to drag others to make a point.

I respect that. I also respect that we may have a different view point and experiences and I respect what you say. I believe that the original poster did not mean to group all races together and you have said, not all white, asian, middle eastern, or black people are discriminatory towards colour. Here's the thing tho: your preference for dark skin has to do with society telling you light is beautiful (I say this as someone who was perpetually told to come inside as a little girl because I was already dark enough).

I like this manga but it's harsh seeing how shunned she is for being brown, especially when I've experienced it IRL. Also, I'm sure your natural complexion is perfect the way it is!

I'm sorry to mention this eventhough you guys seem to have sorted things out but could you please just point out a bit that you did not mean any true offense from saying this? It's a little bit like you are degrading Asians, fair skinned Europeans and Americans. I'm not saying that you are, it's just that your comment makes it seem like it. And I really would prefer not to be called a racist as I myself have many dark skinned friends.

Damn i went to sleep yesterday and did not know this whould blow up. I'll say this, I don't see anyone in the manga racist cuz they don't hate her for being brown skinned, they hate her/are afraid of her because she has the dark king blessing which people are afraid of no? And its the mc who we are supposed to like so why make a character supposed to be liked if all whites and Asians are racist? The author is japanese and they want us to root for the mc and wants us to like the mc, if they wanted people to dislike her they whould make her the antagonist no? And I'm not sure if you guys know that you can be racist against other people then people with dark skin, you can be racist against anyone be it white Asian black etc. Krienne said a lot of what I wanted to say so I won't personally write it as to make this message to long. And isn't it better now cuz they are beginning to have some black mcs? But you also need to remember that these are mangas and are made by Asians for the focus of the Asian fanbase so it's understandable to have more japanese mcs as to other people like legends of Europe focusing on white etc, cuz the majority of people are either white or Asian in those countries and want people to relate to the mcs and stuff like that, but again it's nice to see manga with new and different mcs. I just don't want people to categorize one certain race and point to at them and tell them they are all racists or something just because they are white or Asian or black, because you know... it's an insult to everyone of that color who aren't actual racists or anything like that and I felt that was quite hypocritical, you should judge someone not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character as people say. I'll just say the old meme, I don't care what color you are if you are white black Asian or blue... I hate everyone. As the old meme goes, and it's 2020 and it all depends on the country the level of discrimination, I really doubt the majority of all races are racist now a days but again it all depends on the country you look at too, racism is stupid and should have been gone a long time ago but people are also stupid and judge people by the melanin in their skin

I don't know if I can edit my messages so I'll just add that there is no universal rule that says a certain race is racist and another is not, it's the people who judge people by skin alone, not all whites are racist but sadly some are, not all Asians are racist but sadly some are and not all blacks are racist but sadly some are. I'm not gonna join you guys arguing, and it looks like it's already been resolved. I just want to add(inform?) that some people are not discriminating people with dark skin in Asia because they think white is beautiful. They discriminate because it is a matter of class. I mean rich vs poor. Poor people work mostly under the sun so their skin darkens, while rich people work in air conditioned high-end places, some don't work at all coz they don't have to, so they're not exposed under intense heat. That's the mentality some of them have. And keep in mind that the skin of asians , especially south east Asians, change color. Under the sun's heat it darkens, while in cold places they're skin becomes lighter. So light skin means you live in an "air conditioned" place, vs dark skin means you are probably working your ass off just to earn a living.
