I think he noticed his strong hands from all that wood carving. So he may not be a good at beating up others but that doesn't mean he ain't strong.

I think he noticed the callouses that Love probably has from the woodwork he's been doing and thought that he was a great fighter or smthng...could be wrong tho
Hopefully she won't turn into a douchy character....And I'm really curious how this story is going to evolve, the mangaka could either make it or break it..
