Man I don't even care if he was beat up, left alone and shit like that, I'm tired of authors using these stuff to excuse their characters shitty behavior.

I totally get what you’re saying, but I look at it this way: right now we get the story of a little kid who suffered a lot, and it is really heartbreaking. For the little Jae-kyung. The big Jae-kyung isn’t excused for his behaviour, we just see where it came from. Still his actions are his to be responsible for.

it's a common trope that lazy writers use, especially yaoi manhwa authors. when you add in this background of his it's not only to placate the audience but make them be more sympathetic to a character. a writer wouldn't make the deliberate choice to add in a sob story for nothing, I'd even place bets that when Dan finds out about his abusive childhood he would fall over himself to pity and forgive jaekyung's rapist ass.

bruh to me the ONLY satisfying and sensible redemption arc is B.a.n.a.n.a S.c.a.n.d.a.l and ppl who say that waterside night is good they r a fcking hypocrite clowns thats it xD jinx is an amazing yaoi manga and there is more stories like that in BL/straight mangas, even if JK has a redemption arc its not gonna be enjoyable and the reason why is he did NOT do anything horrible or wild to dan he's just dan's saviour and lover-to-be heheheeee xDD

Ngl i actually disagree, i feel like jk did actually do quite a bit to dan. Obviously he didn’t do anything absolutely heinous but sexual coercion is a thing, and dan had no idea that was what jk wanted from him initially. Also jk seems like a “im the problem and the solution kind of character” i find it wild that they act like dan being “off the rails” and “out of control” is something that came out of nowhere, like if jk wasn’t the reason why he was so depressed overall im really only sticking along bc i feel like ive invested far too much into this damn story you’re absolutely right about waterside night tho, like even in recent chapters the ML STILL doesn’t understand boundaries or basic self control
