Not sure if this will help as spoiler tag but in the novel he won't recognize Paula for quite sometime since she lied about her appearance. Her sister pretends to be her but Vincent is 50/50 about it. We are in the chapter where in Paula realize that Lucas is dead because Vincent has his eyes. Ethan will go to the mansion and will recognize Paula and help her hide(most people from the previous Annex knows Paula but she asks them all to keep it a secret). Vincent is suspicious of her, but it's not until later when he'll discover her real identity. I can give you more if you want but that's the gist of it.
