I think the manhwa artist takes opinion from readers too, they tweeted how they’re always nervous every time they drop the chapter and if their art style does justice to the og material. Also the OG creator (novel) always talks about the manhwa so i guess the pressure is also there
Re-reading this really shows how fucked up his life was to get to that point. At the beginning Sejin was always resigned to his fate and had no expectation. He was already a kind of empty shell with pride holding him together keeping him from faltering. Yet during this time-line he was so completely broken and tired that its hard to believe that even his low expectations couldn't compare to the absolute hell he would experience. He genuinely starts out as a strong character, he doesn't let anyone see him hurt or show dissatisfaction. Yet his life ends in such a cruel way.
