no, he didn’t die. he just made it look like he did so that the people could blame him for everything instead of shell. he also took the blame so that the truth of the vampires wasn’t leaked. to the people the man who caused death and destruction was dead so there was no need to riot. shell was able to take over without connections to eric. and eric is hiding away at their home which shell visits when he can.
