I think u misunderstood that too. bc people usually don't really think coming out is a big deal anymore bc we have progressed a great deal but what I meant was that if this story's setting was 100 years back and the homophobia, anxiety of coming out and so on would become glaringly obvious, instead of being something you need to be in the situation to understand, then people would take the uke more serious and not hate on him that much. ifykim.
