There is no more room or time to develop that part of the story. So it’s most likely been brushed under the rug

mayumi's motive is really nice and i feel it would have been better to follow her journey exploring the countryside and teacher life than having the incestuous 2nd couple. also, touka's presence pissed me off a lot!!! i was fuming. that being said i think mayumi and rin were really cute and seeing them making a family is nice.
