Yeons mother is one of demon tribe witch or something like that. She is alive and really powerful too.
WTF WHY SHE LEAVE YEON BEHIND THEN???
Because she is the daughter of previous Heavenly demon king or something like that.. they couldn't be together as they were a demon and a human? And Yeon eventually does meet her, but with no attachment involved from either side.
