There was quite literally not a single moment where JK was good towards HIM and especially not when they were alone together
Imo Dan has no real reason to like JK at all other than for his naive narratives he creates for JK’s behavior
Ok I hate this story but I just wanna say that a character being written as being blind to a situation they need to walk away from isn't inherently a bad thing. That said the way it's written with Dan is abysmal because we don't feel anything for him besides mild pity for what he is going through 80% and annoyance at his actions/thoughts 20% of the time. He is so bland that most of his thoughts are either directed towards other characters or him self pitying, we barely get to know him as a person of his own accord imo

The pacing is what really makes my feelings for Dan the complete opposite of yours, 80% annoyance and 20% pity.
