Iirc, our FL said that Heinrich is from a side family of the Royal family or smth,,, he's not actually supposed to have the right to the throne but he got it because he was smart and threatened the Emperor by mentioning Kathryn.
No heinrich is a Archduke, he is a royal lineage but he isn't a direct royal lineage so he wasn't eligible for the throne (to simplify it he is a distance relative of the royal family)... the reason why he have a chance to be the emperor because he took the emperor government and Kathryn(the person that the emperor loves) as a hostage and threatened the emperor to recognize his family as a direct lineage so he can inherit the throne.. Because it would be a risk to her life to have them charging in and saving cassis, she wouldnt be able toe scape with cassis, and she'd end up being accountable for it, and seeing how the father has a obsession with the pedelians, she'd probably. Die or suffer hard before dying
