In the beginning when Ci Nian was getting out of prison, he didn’t come out when they came to pick him up so they assumed him dead.
everybody thinks he's dead cause when he was just out of jail and his father was waiting for him outside somebody told Ci Nian's family that he died in prison but I think the brother knows that Ci Nian is alive since he saw him in a cafe once if I m not wrong ;-;
