is Rin in love with Touji?

    chubbii_chii September 12, 2017 4:57 am

I believe that Rin was in love with Yuuto. Since in previous chapters Rin would always be depressed when Yuuto wouldn't give him the same kind of attention as Touji.

rin was in love with seiichi. but we dont know why these two arent a pair , yet.

when i try to imagine this story with real life and real people... #shudders
but really, why's japanese manga seems obssesed with middle eastern theme? do they have crush on middle eastern people? now i'm curious

    I Thot You Was a Toad June 21, 2017 7:14 am

To be fair, they aren't the only ones. In Europe, this form of "orientalism" goes back as far as the Legends of Charlemagne ... probably further.

    Anonymous June 21, 2017 7:16 am

Hits actually not just the manga like they seem to really like Middle East people or more specifically caramel-ish colored people??

They seem to be based on a view of the Middle East which hasn't existed since the Ottoman Empire .... if ever.

I don't mind. Better than painting all middle eastern as terrorists or cockroachest that neds to be eradicated from the face of the earth tbh.
Romanticising things is sometimes better (or at least provide a spectrum)

But Japanese people tend to romanticize things a lot, to a certain extreme.

Google "Paris Shock Syndrome". The Japanese Embassy actually have a 24-hr Helpline for Japanese tourists who suffer extreme (yes! extreme) shock to find out that Paris is not what they have expected it to be.

Well orientalism (term by Edward Said) in this form (based heavily on European views of the Ottoman Empire) became really popular in the 18/19th century. It's all about mystic places and colours, harems, richness... Especially during the romantic movement in the 19th century orientalism became really popular. You can just look at all the novels (pulp erotic novels about harems) and paintings (Ingres, Delacroix... to name a few painters) from then and you will see what I mean. Since Western thinking highly influenced thinking in other places in the world in the 19th and 20th century, it's no wonder the stereotypes from orientalism also became popular in the rest of the world. If you consider that Japan was the eastern power with the best connections with the western world, and during sakoku and all constantly tried to get a grip of Western knowledge (through the Dutch then), it's no wonder they took over the old fascination for the middle east too. It offers mysteries and that mysterious setting fascinates... or something like that lol sorry I'm a history student in the midst of her exam period and somehow I just ended up typing part of the things I have to know, here XD

Thank you, AkikoS! Edward Said's seminal work on Orientalism is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the anthropological, sociological, historical and political underpinnings of racism and colonialism. It's also a small and easily readable essay. The introduction and first chapters are available for free online in pdf form here: https://sites.evergreen.edu/politicalshakespeares/wp-content/uploads/sites/33/2014/12/Said_full.pdf

I love Romance and the Romantic tradition, but it is important to understand how strangely connected-yet-unconnected it is to our physical, material world and all the people and cultures living in it. A real human being has dignity beyond what any fantasy can create. A real human being has actual weight in this world. Fantasy doesn't, or shouldn't. It doesn't bear up under the bright light of day.

umm, lil bit confused here.. can someone tell me where's the hickeys on alpha's neck come from? are they from a girl or the omega? is that why he looks irritated at the omega in the early morning?

    fujiyoshianeko June 20, 2017 12:28 pm

I think the marks is from a girl..bcause at the end of chapt 1 Kaede sent mail to someone while hugging Azusa. So...i assumed that he contact a girl at that time. (=・ω・=)
