Ahhh...... There was no other way for these two. He, out of concern, did what he needed to do to end the sufferings of the people even choosing to sacrifice her but still managed to find way for her to survive yet she chose otherwise and he honored that.
And she who knows but ignored what atrocities her family is causing, to atone for the sins her family caused and for her own intentional ignorance, chose to die with her family.
There was no bad feelings between these two, other than ML lying to MC about his identity. And I think both are aware of this. That's why when MC met ML again she wasn't angry or out for revenge. She just felt that he is doing his job well, that the sacrifice of her family amounted to the prosper of the land under his rule and that she has yet to complete her atonement.
FYI. 5 pages in and I was crying.
