But I think it might have to do with why he hates all Joseon things. Because the older brother is only half brother and he is illegitimate and their dad used him to protect the younger brother and made it clear the older brother will not inherit the family title. And since the family always took in Joseon people for some reason, the older brother started hating them. That is why the older brother forbid the younger brother from learning the Joseon culture.
