It’s a very good story but if you’re looking for smut and romance keep in mind that there’s a lot of lore thrown in. To me it felt like it’s 90% apocalypse lore and 10% BL. Near the end it did feel like the story leaned more towards BL, but it took a crap load of exposition to get there. It fits the narrative well though, because it takes a lot of story to get the depth of their connection across. But yeah it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Now -SPOILERS- just rambling a useless rant. The arrogance of the academy staff and board was so infuriating. Bro you are a flop. Your research led to nowhere useful (except for the meeting between MC and ML hehe). Like on a practical level the virus keeps spreading and your only conclusion is to kill the infected while focusing on researching the weapons (cores) and holding them captive instead of tackling the virus itself. So you’re not solving anything, not really, you’re not saving anyone but yourselves (or at least carving out leverage against a third party, like another institution or something). Even if we consider how ruthless they are it felt absurd that they’re so arrogant while running out of time and out of healthy people, not to mention resources. What is the long term plan? Hunting for MC and ML just in case or whatever while the virus, the war and starvation (etc) kill everything anyway? How is that even a priority?? You have wayyyy more immediate ‘ticking time bombs’ if you’re actually serious about saving humanity but you’re not. You just want to become a more powerful entity. Leave them alone smh. I would imagine that a looming mass extinction (even if we factor in that people are stupid) would make folks in their position much more desperate and thus a little bit more humble instead of wasting time and acting overconfident about everything. Kinda how irl people who survived war zones are very humble about violence. At some point they were almost comically villain-like, no pun intended. Like all that creepy smiling and shit, pls. Serving cult behavior.

I’m halfway through more or less and I just gotta rant a bit. Just as I thought. The director is a fucken moron. Just like in the prequel: guy has flakiness/ commitment issues vibes. Idk how most readers didn't catch that in the prequel. Yiyoung. Gworl. Go live your life gworl. Have fun. The director can fuck off! Chapter 20 of a sequel and we are still riding on some nonsense smh. You being younger is not a sin. The director can legit fuck off back to his older ladies and live in the reality he believes in. I saw a few older comments talking about how Yiyoung‘a insecurities and lack of experience are the cause of the problem?? Are we reading the same thing here??? The director is in the wrong. He’s the one with the insecurities, and he’s projecting. Despite his eXpErIeNcE this cunt still says ALL the wrong things and makes his highly sincere partner question their relationship. Now tell me how the director saying straight up that they won’t be together in the future is not stupid, condescending and absolutely insensitive? Dis coming from your green flags zaddy?? Fucking BULLSHIT. My god I just hate these condescending partners. You know what is mature, director? To leave some things unsaid. Ah well, anyway, it’s an engaging story hahaha.

To leave some things unsaid. - If anything, sorry but I still applaud Kang here. Why? This just means they'd be able to talk about anything. He obviously can't show enough how much he loves Ahn. This 'stupid, condescending and absolutely insensitive' is from Ahn's POV but that was never Kang's intention.

Sorry for the long reply. Ignore this if you want but I just had to clarify. I don’t think you understood what I meant by saying that he should leave some things unsaid. It’s not that he shouldn’t be transparent, it’s about basic social tact. Being a good communicator is not just about always saying what is directly on your mind and letting your intrusive thoughts win. Kang, the so-called mature and experienced partner who should know better (according to himself), slipped and showed his insecurities about their future. Passing it off as him being mature and understanding. He did not do that to benefit Yiyoung. He did that to protect himself. Otherwise he wouldn’t be raging in a car rn regretting it. So clearly that conversation did not steer them towards being able to ‘talk about anything.’ It created drama. They more or less just started dating. Imagine you start dating someone and they’re already talking about ‘well one day we will def break up and I will let you go, because I’m soooo mature, and there’s plenty of fish in the sea.’ For most people that’s quite insensitive. Objectively so. That’s not just Yiyoung’s pov. It was inappropriate to say that. Just because we are alive and one day we will all die, should we talk about death instead of enjoying life?
Also, just because one’s intention is not negative it doesn’t save them from the negative consequences of that intent. I’m not sure why you think that’s a defence. That’s like the equivalent of saying ‘I’m sorry you felt that way’ is an actual apology. Yiyoung has the right to feel however he wants no matter the intent. Anyway I’m sure after this drama they will be ok. They just needed some spice.

Just because we are alive and one day we will all die, should we talk about death instead of enjoying life? - Yes. You can still enjoy life while accepting the fact and even preparing when you die. That's why it's best to invest on life insurance or funeral packages while you're still alive so that your loved ones are not burdened when you do die, whether its far or near future.
Kang being angry about himself is honestly because he said those things when he has not showed enough and proved how much he loves Ahn - which caused Ahn to feel offended because he interprets it as Kang's love is not on the same weight as Ahn's does. They have been trying to talk but either someone is drunk or that work - now a 3rd party - is interrupting them. And him not expecting that jealousy is a thing for him. He hasn't realized yet that he can be jealous and yet still do what he said if that day ever comes.
The conversation about letting go should have never been done while they were both drunk. Imo, it was a good talk but just in an inappropriate timing. If anything, Kang is already deep and even comfortable in the relationship that he was able to spit that out, while Ahn is basically still on honeymoon phase.
Yiyoung has the right to feel however he wants no matter the intent. - I don't think Ahn was wrong with getting upset especially when he and Kang's view of their relationship is quite mismatched. Kang just has to prove he does love Ahn, as deeply as Ahn does.

Sure we make arrangements for funerals and all that, but not when we’re twenty or teenagers. If we think of their relationship in those terms, that’s what Kang is doing. It’s too soon to talk about shit like that, hence the lacking social tact and that maturity facade crumbles. That’s what I was talking about. The root of the problem in my opinion is still that he’s acting out of insecurity and not from a place of love and ‘selflessness.’ You probably disagree.
I guess I should have also mentioned that death is kind of an extreme comparison. I am making a bit of a false equivalency between what is inevitable and what might not come to pass per se. He’s not talking as if they might break up one day, but that they definitely will. You can appreciate how messed up that is yeah?
Anyway let’s just agree to disagree. What you and I think is better for a long-term relationship and communication is just different. I really don’t want to have an endless back and forth.

Pretty sure Kang would apologize for saying them after Doyeon arc is resolved. Just not sure if Ahn will understand Kang's perspective in return so that they'd meet at a compromise. They are after all a couple that communicates pretty well. Doyeon arc gave Kang opportunity to prove he can fight for the relationship when he can - the part that was lacking in his speech, imo.
Yeah agree to disagree, whether he should have said it or not.

It’s not like any of this was your normal cute school life romance story. I understand this. It was about dealing with their traumas and fears (which they did not btw, they’re just trauma bonding), but bro what the fuck was that park scene????
Uke: fingering himself in front of some rando
Also uke IN THE NEXT PANELS: is he feeling insecure about us?
Girl.

The only thing that bothered me was the relentless, acute concentration on/ obsession with the uke’s late father. I get it. I get that it was a central theme in the series, but it got annoying really quickly. Everyone was worshipping him and obsessing over him as though he solved world hunger or something. It seemed like the other older characters were preoccupied with it far too much, far more than the uke. It felt like they were burdening him with the memory of his father. Almost overshadowing the fact that the uke is his own person. And I applauded the seme when he noted exactly that to the glasses guy.

Very soft story. A slow burn of sorts. Heavy focus on parenting. Everything revolves around the kid pretty much. She’s the main plot device.
Even though it’s not like they were in a relationship or whatever so it’s just me being picky, but for most of the story they showed both characters sleeping with other people and just living through life by each other’s side, not even in a romantic capacity. It felt like the last chapter and extras with the sex scenes (the only sex scenes between them throughout the entire story, we’re talking about TWO volumes here) were pushed in there just to compensate for the fact that they were shown to have sex with other people. Just so it wouldn’t have felt lacking in a sense, since at the end of the day it’s not shounen ai.
Also the bio dad was such a selfish asshole wow. Custody stuff aside, he was cheating on the seme and they totally glossed over that just because the cancer reveal was more shocking. It was so irritating. Speaking of which, so the seme was willing to become family and lived with his scumbag cheating ex, but according to the extra they’re living a ‘separate’ life? What does that even mean?? And all this after FIFTEEN years miss thing?? Wtf why. But yeah they’re so wholesome I guess.
