Yeah it's pretty creepy to copy someone to that extent. I don't think he is selfish, because he is going to remarry. For me, it's selfish that he didn't think about how his son would react to his choice. The dad should have "updated" his son with his current situations, like "I'm going out with someone" and "I'm living with her", etc. Just to come and tell that he is going to have a new mom and he should study in the U.S. so suddenly is far too unfair.
That is being selfish, he didn't even ask him what he wanted. I don't really care if he hadn't told his son about him dating someone which is normal, you wouldn't really tell personal stuff like that to family.

i agree that the dad is super selfish and i dont really like him, but thats mainly because he supposedly doesn't have enough time and is too busy to regularly contact his son but he some how had plenty of time to meet, date, move in with and decide to marry this woman. even if they met at work and he felt to awkward to tell the son he was dating he could have at least given to boy a heads up. like saying "hey im seening someone right now and i woulld really like you to meet her, would it be okay if i brought her over to meet you". he could have at least done that much
