all of this is just reminding me of how happy he was to hear that she did get to go to college and graduate :((( like everyone else is saying, being a caregiver is sooo difficult (mentally and physically). and pregnant on top of that?? i can’t imagine. had he stayed, i’m sure she would’ve taken care of him. it sounds exactly like something she would do knowing how giving and caring she was. but i also don’t think she would’ve been able to accomplish all the things she did (for herself, her son, and her village) had she taken on that role. also they weren’t dating for too long, right? i don’t say it to diminish their relationship, i know they loved each other. but i can also see people judging him HAD he stayed and (indirectly) made a younger girl he hadn’t been dating for long take on a primary role of helping him recuperate (that’s IF he even lived and didn’t die on her.) she loved him so she would’ve taken care of him. but he loved her and couldn’t possibly ask her to do that. so many people with lifelong/terminal/complicated illnesses have shared similar feelings of guilt at seeing their loved ones spend so much time attending to them as opposed to “living life for themselves.” i feel for them both. it’s not easy.
