You should've said, "We're just friends," instead of that TBH... It crossed the line, and after he said it, no one laughed. It got awkward and killed the mood because everyone knew he went too far. And of course, he'd try to have sex with him while ignoring how the bottom felt.
Imagine if the ML thinks the MC will eventually confess to him, even though the MC doesn’t actually have feelings for him. The ML keeps hoping but never confesses himself. Then, over time, the MC actually falls for him and confesses, making the ML think he was right all along
