Feel bad for shinpei. Like no offence the fl is sooooo annoying like your saying those girls need saving but what about shinpei he is literally dying. Plus the the three girls are also assassins so how are they different from shinpei
You’ve got to be like a child to not understand the realistic aspect of everything, Shinpei is beyond a healthy character, for sure a well written one, but how the FL reacts is how an actual person with humanity would lol, you guys clearly missed the essence of the manga
No, her father is way worse. I'm not saying shinpei is completely innocent but nor is anyone else. But she chooses to still only condemn him.
When has she ever said her dad is good since the island? Both her dad and Shinpei have good sides she remembers and cherishes making it difficult to stop caring about them even when they have done bad things. This is a parallel the author clearly added on purpose. Satoko had a good childhood despite her illness and believed she had agency over her own fate (as her father allowed her to reject proposals from people who did not know about her condition). When she goes to the island she gains true agency and ends up choosing Shinpei on the condition he stops murdering people. She then realises this whole time she actually didn’t have any control at all. Her dad tries to murder the man she chose and does kill friends she chose, then tells her who she’s going to marry. From his perspective he has worked within her rules (getting her a husband who knows about her condition) while keeping control over her. Satoko obviously doesn’t like this but what is she supposed to do? She doesn’t react to all of this happily like her dad isn’t doing her wrong - she falls into a deep depression because she’s terminally ill and unable to fight back even if she wants to. She has no agency.
After all that, she’s taken by blondie against her will and learns that her whole family is going to die. Satoko is a good person. She doesn’t want her family to die even if they have wronged her. After all of this stuff with her dad, at no point is she saying he’s good and nice and did no wrong. Shinpei, meanwhile, murders a load of innocent men just in case they are engaged to her. Her relationship with him was predicated on him agreeing to not kill again. Once again, men in Satoko’s life ignore her wishes. She morally cannot stand by him anymore even though she desperately loves him. Yes, her dad sucks, but Shinpei is constantly murdering people right now. Her dad isn’t coming in each chapter to do more evil stuff and she can’t exactly condemn him at random moments. Shinpei keeps doing more things that make her unable to be with him because, again, she is a good person with a normal persons moral compass. Satoko can’t do anything to stop her dad because he is not reachable as far as we know but she potentially could stop Shinpei because he’s supposed to love her. Her vulnerability is always shown around Shinpei because she is in pain seeing what he has become. Is there any point in her trying to emotionally appeal to her dad who clearly doesn’t care over Shinpei who does?
It’s so tiring seeing people dislike how Satoko is reacting right now because she’s written like a person rather than a caricature. What is this woman who is going to die in a week supposed to do to stop a rampaging Shinpei or her piece of shit dad. God forbid she be scared those girls are going to die as if she hasn’t already made it clear she doesn’t want anyone else to be killed (she knows Shinpei is ridiculously OP she’s not a fool). And guess what, she was going to try and stop him UNTIL BLONDIE TOOK AWAY HER AGENCY AND STOPPED HER AGAIN. As soon as you look at this story from this angle suddenly everything makes sense and Satoko doesn’t seem as much as a lame shrinking violet but as a woman in a system that gives her no control over her fate. I’m a Satoko defender until death, man.
(Also, I don’t dislike any of the characters besides her dad so don’t paint me to be a Shinpei hater or something).

There’s no competition of who is worse when it’s also clear that (if u did read the manga) Satoko does NOT condemn both of them actually. Even in the recent chapters she cannot bring herself to hate either her father or Shinpei. Especially Shinpei. U can tell she does not wish an unhappy ending upon ANYONE. It is the mere fact that she knows killing is an immoral act and Shinpei is beyond helping. There is a difference between killing with intent and defending themselves as the assassin triplets do lol
And the manga obviously highlights the fact of a huge power dynamic. If anyone’s to blame it is the high authority from stopping her and almost killing her every time. How is that to blame upon Satoko who in every recent chapter now has fallen bedridden and is told she could collapse any moment any time. And if you really wanna play that game of condemning, Shinpei only cares about his own comfort and the love that Satoko gives to HIM. He did not even care one bit about the fact that she was bedridden and sick. Only about the fact of possessing her.
I was honestly so glad to see some normal takes in the replies It’s the Breaking Bad problem where people like the morally bankrupt male lead so much that they forget you’re not supposed to be rooting for him.
I honestly get the frustration to an extent- if it were an ideal world Satoko and Shinpei could’ve just been happy together. I’d also like to see both of them happy! Sadly, that just isn’t the story we’re reading. Satoko is probably going to die and Shinpei may well be going out with her. We always knew it was going to end in tragedy and everything discussed in this comment section is what makes the story good. I could and probably would write a whole essay about the way this manga utilises its strong female characters with regards to their agency (hopefully a better one than the brain spew I’m writing right now, lol).

Yep, they are going all out on the despair and gloom of the original fairy tales. My guess is that many fairy tales will be intertwined in a showdown kind of format with maybe one pair of lovers surviving.
