I haven't re-read but I seem to remember that he only stopped modeling/acting(?) due to some trauma. He already has foundation so it's not odd he knows how to at least carry himself.

He is but this is in medieval settings and he has a inferiority complex (he was a nobody and he thinks his wife raised like a pampered princess) he thinks he failed her wife with how bad his situation is compared to her father. Constantly trying to prove he deserves her to HIMSELF. In overall he's in wrong but I want you put what I said along with it

And I'm going to add a little of my opinion (it might be wrong) but he's someone with really tough upbringing and situations he has a misconceptions of someone spoiled and pampered isn't cut out for this kinda of job just like how we say hood life isn't for upper class kinda thing specially in your mind you saw it as them pursuing hobbies like yeah my woman practicing archery with her maiden friend in the garden and got us a beautiful bird she completely can survive a battle field I'm nervous about it shitless kinda thing. He's still wrong tho I'm just saying

Additionally, he is right to a point.

Maxi literally fainted when she first travelled to Anatol. She mentioned it herself that it was her first time travelling. She had the reputation of having poor constitution when she still live with her father. She IS a raletively new mage that haven't undergo the same training as other established mages, like Ruth and the Old man. She had NEVER seen the horror of a full blown war or underwent the difficult life of a soldier on a march to what may be their death place.

Taking all these into consideration, it's no surprise Riftan would hate the idea of her going to such place. This is not misogyny.

And actually, this is no longer just about her being a pampered princess and whatnot. It's an effing battlefield of monsters more than thrice her size? What kind of husband would want to use her wife as shield from all that?

Oh, and I also read this one comment saying Maxi is considering having his kid but Riftan is out here acting like one? Dude, how is her voluntarily endangering herself to a war considering their child? I love Maxi, but if you all are not meeting Riftan's perspective halfway, I'm doubting how you all are comprehending this plot. Hating Riftan because of a sound argument. It's funny. Later on when this war finished, I hope those who said, "I hate him", would come and say, " Oh no, Maxi.. What have we done."

I mean I kinda agree he doesn't communicate well and trying dismiss his wife really is disrespectful and all but I completely get what he means he shows his concern in a wrong way tho but still his points are valid and again it's a medieval settings he uphold some traditional values like protect the woman and children at all costs he already feels so bad about how he's not enough rich for her just like her dad how can he let himself fail as risking her life?!

What does forgiving have to do with anything? I keep seeing people talk about how others are “forgiving” the ML like it’s somehow a relevant thing to do.
