To all the people in this chat I think you can forgive because he has been ABUSED SO MUCH. His father shut him in a room and let men RAPE him and abused him physically himself as well. He exhibits mutiple forms of PTSD that including taking on characteristics of that abuse and doesn’t even know it because in this era these things such as PTSD weren’t even a thing. No one was at the scientific level to no how this could mentally damage someone and he couldn’t get help thus he hurt the uke and he knows he fucked up but doesn’t even realize why or how he got this way. He is a victim and is trying to get better and we can see that but if any of you with trauma know it doesn’t just go away in a fucking day. It’s slow on its own in general let alone when dozens of people are trying to kill you and the person he essentially loves so

THANK YOUUU!! Seungho literally shows so many symptoms of PTSD and mental trauma. Like you said, in this era there was no diagnosis for this mental health problem. On top of that, Seungho has too much pride, preventing him form letting go of it and apologizing to everyone he's hurt.

You’re welcome! It sucks and I understand people being mad and it yes it doesn’t really means he should have done it but I try to explain to people it’s more complicated than that. I wish it were that black and white but with that kind of extreme trauma and PTSD it just never is and I hope the story progresses in a way that’s good for him ╥﹏╥

yeah ofc! just the fact that he did the “exact” same thing to nakyum is like meh. i personally don’t like him as a character but he is interesting and has some trauma that is maybe somehow realistic.

Because of the fact that in this era mental effects to abuse and PTSD are not known I think he didn’t realize until a bit too late what he was doing to him and regrets it now hence his current actions. And it’s hard to tel really how realistic trauma can be with people cuz it’s all different but has a base standard for everyone. Hopefully he doesn’t let his trauma affect the uke any further

The problem here is it doesn't justify or excuse his behavior. Speaking as a person who's gone through abuse (though I think most of us have at some level) one of our biggest fears is the "hurt people hurt people" cycle. As an adult, if you realize you've become your abuser... And you continue... No excuse. I couldn't bear it. I would shut myself away at an institution, never to allow myself in society unsupervised again. To think another person will carry lifelong damage because of me... Sheesh, you'd have to be so so selfish to keep going (what I'm seeing in SH so far). Call me callous, but SH doesn't deserve forgiveness. He deserves to heal and grow and be good- or even happy. But he doesn't deserve NKYM or his forgiveness v_v quite an interesting story.

Same here, and felt the same. I almost finished but still confused. I'm gonna read the Minori no Te and Jealousy since they are also parts of the story and it will be clear a bit I guess. Or not :D
I don't dislike Scarlet Beriko but mostly I don't understand the storyline :D
