There is nothing worse than a story with great potential turning out like every other shitty story.
All of these guide/esper stories have the same dynamic, it’s like the authors think the only way to tell a compelling story is to have an asshole esper abuse/rape a guide. No originality at all.
This story could have been a stand out if they leaned into the poly dynamic. A group of espers crazy protective/possessive of their guide leaning more into adoration is so much hotter than treating him like a fleshlight with rape scene after rape scene. They could have even still been toxic protective/possessive without going overboard…like when the uke is miserable the entire time it’s not sexy or compelling to read at all.

Yeah they basically said they adore love stories built on trauma but i think what ticks me off personally is that they CALL it a love story? Its hard to explain but to diminish love into something lowly built on trauma, abuse and rape irritates me. Cause thats not what it is gang, a happily ever after shouldnt involve pain. I know the author HAS made it clear this is a psychological thriller but its weird that they think that this can be called something as romantic as a love story. Im pretty sure watching your love interest be gang raped by your 'friends' isnt something as light as a necessary trauma for the plot. It would be great if the ending clearly depicted Yugeon's relationship with Shinje as stockholm syndrome (which is what it is) but im pretty sure it was some weak happy ending. A psychological thriller shouldn't have a romanticised abusive relationship in it, or else its not really showing the reality of it is it? I wish that the story could deviate from the novel and end up with some fucked up ending suited to this genre ...
NO FOR REAL. I don’t like that the author has turned trauma into some type of romantic type. Who’s find enjoyment in that? And I don’t think romance should be a genre for this. This shouldn’t been lead like in the novel. Wouldn’t been worth a read.

This is the type of story you aren’t supposed to take anything seriously but when the uke is screaming stop and the seme is just a jacksss the entire time it’s not enjoyable. Their dynamic was funny up until the newest chapter. Like the keycaps thing was supposed to be funny but….there just wasn’t anything enjoyable about it.
Well now that we know he’s a minor it would be really weird for this to be a romance. I remember author saying there would be so sex, which is fine a story can be a bl without sex, but I can’t really see this being a romance anymore, which is kind of a bummer. They are funny together and I was looking forward to watching the evolution.The author shares a lot of fanservice on their insta that is more suggestive tho so idk

All good. Not sure where the person who commented that got it from, but on instagram the author has made it clear that it's SFW, so I don't believe the author would say that and then add a sex scene out of no where haha. I also haven't seen the author speak about their age anywhere though. But I'll continue looking, so I'll be sure to tell you if I can find a sure answer ^^

this is just a story and it doesn’t need to be taken this serious but I have thoughts.
I know he only entered the competition to get money for his cat but from the very beginning he hasn’t been confident in his ability to win, hence the BGP. Was the competition really the best alternative as apposed to just having a job? I just wonder if the months of competing was really worth it when you are at risk on not winning and getting no money?

Because jobs don't pay enough? He's a student, at most they'd only hire him part time at minimum wage. And on top of that he's got bills and living costs to pay for which the part-time job probably just covers. Where the heck would he get enough money for the super expensive vet bills???? At least the competition provides him with accommodation and food.
hm maybe it is tough for him.. I just know my friend has two cats and we are broke art students lmao and she has one part time job and still manages quite well despite all the vet bills, and one of her cats also recently fell ill. And her parents can't support her financially... so it is possible to to that with just a part-time job. And the university where we are studying is a private one which is quite expensive every month. So idk how she does it but she manages to pay for all of that with just her part time job and sometimes a bit financial aide from the government (tho they usually mess it up and don't pay).
Idk where you live but a part-time job does not pay nearly that much for me lol. idk how it is in Korea but he's got to be struggling.
I'm from Germany. And for us the best we can get as students, part time is 450€ a month.
