No I don’t think he did. This is how I understand it from all the flashbacks.
Marsha has always a few screws loose (dues to her upbringing), and like all the other orphan kids shown in the flashbacks wanted to receive affection.
They however don’t understand why they aren’t receiving it and why they get beaten/are hated. To them this lifestyle has just become natural to them.
Marsha while short a few screws is still very smart and inquisitive. So she decides to understand why?
She first thinks the lack of affection is because he’s her stepfather and they aren’t blood related/that she’s some form of burden/baggage.
This is followed by the thank can you kill? Since you don’t love me and am a burden/clearly cause some sort of displeasure towards you (she just gets beaten more).
Then finally she asks if you don’t hate me than will/can you hug me? (Which I’m assuming is a translation error and is more like can you hold me, as in a sexual way).
Asking this she comes to understand his true nature, how’s he’s been looking at her, and sadly the reality of their relationship.
He then proceeds to attempt AS where he is then stabbed and killed by Marsha.
Thus beginning her life as a runaway/mercenary
