I don't get it! Taihou is the attendant whom the previous emperor had a child with?? Taihou had a daughter - Suirei's mom.
But Loulan said, Taihou's daughter/Suirei's mom - is Taihou and the kicked out physician's child (was that Loumen?)
I'm confused how Suirei has a royal blood. Unless Taihou is the previous emperor's daughter or Taihou's daughter is the previous emperor's child - what's with the physician?
And then Suirei's parents are Shishou and Taihou's daughter.

okay so the way i know it is this: shen mei's attendant in the inner palace was taihou with whom the late emperor r***d and got pregnant. she
1) couldnt leave the inner palace because she was "touched by the emperor"
2) worked in the clinic because she was getting old and that was the only option
3) was the one who hosted the ghost story tales, and her spirit may have came back to haunt shisui when they went to hear the ghost stories
4) The court physician was basically the scape-goat and both him and the baby were banished from the inner palace
5) That baby (technically a princess) that got kicked out with the court physician grew up to have a child out of wedlock with shi shou
6) the child of the banished princess and shi shou is our dear suirei (originally named shisui)
that goes to show that
- taihou is suirei's maternal grandmother
-the late emperor is suirei's maternal grandfather
-the current emperor is suirei's half uncle
-jinshi is suirei's SUPPOSED half uncle as well (but i have my bets that hes a cousin)
-shishui(loulan) is suirei's half sister
TLDR suirei has royal blood because her direct maternal grandfather was the late emperor.
i also dont think the physician was loumen, but honestly it couldve been, since the timing wouldve made sense: we knew loumen was in the inner palace during the late emperor's reign... but we know that taihou was the emperor's first victim and that wouldve been too soon since he was in the inner palace during jinshi's birth, which happened at the latter end of his reign.

I couldn't find where it said Taihou was raped, I thought it was one of those times when the late emperor got forced with different women. Regardless, the queen regent rejected suirei's mom and the physician.
The whole plot to have loulan in the palace and bear child (which the current Emperor bedding with her was just courtesy to their clan, while Loulan has been stopping the pregnancy - rumors she got pregnant and she just aborted it with the lantern flower seed) was to overthrow the current Emperor and his lineage. Start civil war and take back their reign (western blood with color blindness as a significant trait).
It's all coming together and it took so many chapters that it's hard to remember the plot points.
I realized it wasn't loumen. Since that physician was already kicked out of the palace along with Taihou's child. He started the castrating medical officers trend/law, hence loumen became a eunuch to assist empress dowager's delivery of the current Emperor.
Dang I didn't know the Emperor bedded her. Because in the anime, it seems like the reason she's having elaborate fashion style is so that the Emperor won't be interested in her, and at the same time, it'll be easier for her to switch with her attendants when she's dressing up as a maid
That, too. Those reasons still stand true. But the emperor had to, simply out of courtesy, even if he didn't really want or wasn't interested on her.
