Might be because it's shonen ai but they were clearly written free of the stereotypes that limit seme-uke pairings. They both share traits of each, and even phisically they're pretty much on par. Which just makes for more deep characters dynamics between them, because it's not just one guy being swayed by the other, it's two different people pushing and struggling to understand each other.
I don't care what the dude says, I envision them as a switch couple because honestly they're the closest I've seen in a while to an actual relationship between real, complex people. And real people switch, get over it (￣∇￣")
