Another great BL that was sitting on my « to read list » for months and that I never read for whatever reason. This is sooooo good ! My God, their relationship, their chemistry, their dynamic, their personalities… I’m literally obsessed with them and their relation.
Ch.24 Benimaru said : « I want an obsession, an overwhelming urge … I want to own and be their everything ». Their relationship reminds me of another of my fave BL « Hollow Lovers ». Ziming & Sheng’ love was so strong, overwhelming, passionate and entrancing. At times their love and dedication felt so much passionate that it was almost suffocating. But that’s the best type of love !
And the fact that they’re switch … it’s the cherry on the cake. Idk why authors don’t do more switch couple, it’s WAY better.

Well, I had high hopes for this story after reading vol 1 but tbh, vol 2 and mostly vol 3 were disappointing to me.
Yu obsession for Betty didn’t make sense at all and was never explained. He met Betty 1 time and ended up throwing his life away for him and later waiting years to be with him. And Yu being bottom is bullshit, he said that he wasn’t gay and 2 min later he allowed Betty to fuck him although Betty was shown to be a total bottom himself.
As for Makoto and Ai relationship I’m biased asf cause I hated Makoto since the beginning. So I’m not gonna talk about them fucked up brothers.
The yakuza part was way too complicated, too many characters, too many relationships, too many plots. It felt overwhelming. The story could have been better imo if it was simplified and focused on either Ai/Makoto (+ Betty) or either Betty/Yu.

Yu’s obsession to help Roku is something most won’t understand (even I kinda don’t) but like they kept mentioning in the beginning—Yu is an honest person. And honorable, candid, and his simple way of thinking unveiled why Ai wanted to isolate and keep Makoto to himself. Also Yu didn’t throw his life away?? Yu was very determined to help someone who wasn’t willing to help themselves (bc Roku thought it was impossible). What Yu did was save someone.
Also choosing to be a top or bottom during sex changes all the time in same-sex relationships. It’s not as black and white as bl’s make it. Not one person is a top or bottom all the time. Which position you take during sex is always switching (but yes there are people who prefer certain positions). It’s a choice. And Roku never had a choice to begin with bc of his upbringing/unfortunate circumstances. Roku did what he had to do to survive. People CAN in fact be switchessss. Not hard to understand.
(Also if Yu was so ready to let a man do him—was he even fully straight to begin witttth?)

1) I'm not knocking down Yu's effort and determination to help Betty, what I said is that all the things he did for Betty was never explained, so it felt VERY excessive. And yes to me he almost threw his life away for Betty: he put his grandpa's life and business in jeopardy, he put himself in the line of danger working for Makoto and then for the other yazuka guy, he could've been dead if it wasn't for Makoto taking the bullet instead of Betty and last he waited all those years for Betty.
2) I know very well that sexual roles are not something set in stone, I myself prefer switches couple in BL over the typical uke/bottom and seme/top (too bad authors don't do that more cause in reality it's more common for gays to be switch).
My remark was more toward the fact that Yu said 3 times that he wasn't gay, and when he was talking with Ai he said that he's not a virgin (so he did it with girl-s) and "he don't think he swing that way but Betty ..." So he's rather sexually fluid, meaning he's hetero but fell for Betty or he doesn't know his sexual orientation.
So for Betty who was shown to be a bottom (at this point we don't know for sure if he's a bottom, a switch or a top forced to be a bottom for Makoto), to top an hetero for his first time without asking him what role he wants to take, was an odd move. For a lot of gay/bi, their first time bottoming didn't feel good or worse, was traumatizing, plus it takes a LOT of preparation beforehand. And usually former hetero (not all) prefer to top because that's what they have been doing with women. That's why it didn't make sense for Betty to top Yu the first time.
I think Betty being the top was a good way to show that now he's not taking the submissive role and he's not a sex slave anymore, but imo it would've been better to show it later, not for their first time.

I hope they will switch, cause Jin is a dom switch and Andrew doesn’t mind being bottom or top. It will be a shame if they just stay in one role.

Langa is both cute and handsome in this pic

Childhood friends + Unrequited love is an overused theme in BL but this mangaka really took a different path and delivered in a realistic way.
Usually when one of them force himself on the other, the later just accept it with confusion or run away because of embarrassment/confusion but still is ok with it. But here the author choose to show this as a traumatic event for both of them.
Same for the confession, here Kazu said that he doesn’t think of Moto like that but still want to be friend with Moto. And his feelings didn’t change for 2 years. In other BL, Kazu would have ditched his gf to be with Moto without questioning his feelings and sexual orientation.
It was nearly excellent, too bad we didn’t see more of them after Kazu accepted Moto’s feelings and as a couple. A 6th chapter would have been great …
This is criminally underrated ! 8.7 is not enough, this story was amazing and so well written ! I loved all the characters and laughed my ass off all along.
