RIGHT?! I thought I was the only one who was lost because English isn’t my first language. I even have a note where I write down the characters because I get them mixed up or forget them.

From what I understand, Khallak is an independent territory, and the Lord of Khallak, a title that seemed to be given regardless of gender, is the ruler of this land. Sylhan was the son of the previous Lord, and since it seemed like the title is inherited, he was meant to ascend the throne. However, something happened, resulting in the previous Lord dying and Sylhan being assumed as the killer. He was turned into a slave for the crime he allegedly committed and was only saved from most slave tasks after being taken under Lysbeth's wing. I do believe that while Lysbeth is trying to be nice to Sylhan, she and especially Lister are the reason Sylhan ended up where he is, with his fragmented memories, apparently from the the meds he was told will cure his insanity and prevent the repeat of his killing. I also think that the siblings are in cahoots with the current Lord of Khallak to prevent Sylhan from rightfully claiming his title. On the other hand, Epssen is another territory which is currently in a truce with Khallak, with Gjord acting as their mediator. Of course, Gjord has his own agenda, which I think involves taking over Khallak and taking revenge on Sylhan's behalf.

I don’t know if I understood well, but Isn’t Gjord the ruler of some place?

He's also King of Epssen iirc? Not a likeable one though since he's an illegitimate son born from a maid so he doesn't have a good standing among nobles/aristocrats. That's why it was also a big issue that he stayed in Khallak through the fall and winter since people think "why wouldn't you go back to your territory though?" But of course he did it for Sylhan^^

He's labeled a knight, and I don't remember any mention of him being in line for succession, but given his personality and displayed tactical prowess, it might be likely for him to also conquer Epssen's throne if it means getting more power to aid Sylhan in regaining everything that was originally meant to be his.

Not really, no. Remember they are still humans with skills, and just because it is their job doesn't mean they have better skills, ESPECIALLY when the job is in an industry that isn't high stakes like politics, law or science. They might have the same level as Jujucat who is a VERY good translator, probably fluent in the Korean.
So, no. Not always. Sometimes they're just equal.

There are some teams that really have as good translations as officials. It all depends.

Not to mention, sometimes officials just give you calendar gaps that unpaid uploaders dont.
