probaby really late to answer but around chapters 34 to 36? if i remember correctly are the chapters which the first season ended at. also what you heard is true. the manga is 1000 times more better that the second season of the anime. they cut out lots of fun and enjoyable things and things that answer some questions. removed most of the arcs just to get to the end and even changed that too. i really loved this read

Miriam is his first wife. Since he was so sickly as a child, his mother made him marry Miriam to make an heir so that even if he dies, they can still be in power as opposed to him dying young and childless thus allowing other relatives of his to have a claim to the throne, thus leaving his mother and his wife's family at risk of losing power.
That's how I understand it from my reading.
No miriam was his wife that his mother made him marry at 15. She then raped him while he was sick.
