I feel like authors need to think out the background more for some of these reincarnation stories. It clearly said that his memories came back from his previous life but even if his personalities did merge it doesn't make any sense for him to disregard his family from his second life and say that they're strangers. Same thing goes with his friends. I've seen this is a couple different manga and comics. He didn't take over some boy's body. It was always his, he just recalled his previous memories so to me it seems like bad writing, especially since he was re-exploring the place like "woah look at the river over there! Look at how nasty the toilet is" when he should still have his memories from his second life as well (even if they do feel slightly far away).
I feel like Ren really does feel parental love for Yuuhi and I hope he'll realize that Yuuhi is happy with his current life and is working to better himself and step back without forcing him back into the gang. I'd love it if Ren and Yuuhi could be a happy little family again if Ren changed his ways but the chances of that happening are slim sadly :(
