Very true, I think most of us who actually read the story know Ian will go back mainly because he realizes he can't proceed further until things are settled with the gang. He's scared Jo and his family will get hurt and he's slowly trying break the repeated cycle he has with tj, him and tj have a trauma bond it will get hard to break but lately we can see Ian has learn a few things he close but still need far more time to cut ties. S3 will have so much angst.
