Have you read the manga first? The anime excludes a lot of parts and details from the manga, so it can be somewhat confusing. I suggest for anyone who watches the anime to read the manga if you want to get the entire story.
The ep 5 is taken from chap 13-15 in the manga, you can read that chap if you want to know more context to that episode
