That's true, I didn't like the romance too in the first place I guess I just accepted it. Since it was already good enough to explore the love Remilia has on Emi and just the revenge part. It would have been better if the romance started after everything where Angel could have suspected that something is wrong with Remilia and investigates and Remilia at this point could have let go and acted as herself.

Couldn't agree more, Jia literally stopped writing and put her whole life in pause after this. It was a terrible idea as a gift but as things were between them, probably the friend would have give her a slap in any moment and it would end in the same outcome. It was a lose-lose situation
right? like regardless if she gave that horrible gift, their friendship was already drifting apart. the friend was obviously incredibly jealous over jia's success (valid since she dedicated her whole life to writing) and it was pretty clear she was having a rough time trying to maintain her friendship w jia w all the outside factors. its obvious they both had an avoidant reaction after the fight and instead of working it out they stopped talking to each other almost completely. and obviously they both regret not working it out or they regret what they did.....
