Holy frick this is one of the best things I’ve ever read. I’ve put this off for awhile since I didn’t think I would be able to catch up with the Egyptian references and also heard that the relationships are messy as helllll. Oml all the warnings really weren’t exaggerated, the amount of times I kept referring back to the family tree and surprisingly what really shook me was that Hathor was going after her great grand nephew(?) like all this time for like 170+ chapter so thought she was in the same generation or another random god, I didn’t recognise her in the family tree .
I also find it really clever that the author utilises 16+ and mature versions of the novel to explain the same narrative but in different perspectives. Like in the mature version we see rawness and what happens straight up whereas in 16+ we see the internal dialogues/struggles of all the charas. It’s just all so clever omygoshh.
Also want to bring up the way intercourse scenes are drawn? I don’t know if it’s just the art style or smth but the way it’s drawn is sensual(?) but it’s not like porn porn bait if you get what I mean (?) we don’t see much genitalia, there isn’t a lot of like foreplay either (I’m also so glad intercourse scenes don’t take up like multiple chapters.) The assault ones are just absolutely terrifying and I appreciate that it’s not glorified to make it look sexy but just outright torture that Seth has to go through for his many transgressions.
Loving how most of the characters are morally grey, not jsut classified in black and white. Ofc there are some characters that are completely black or white, but damn these gods are all so human. Like some of the characters really jsut turned out that way because of certain situations, and that in turn paved way for shit things to happen that eventually snowballed and that’s why the peace is broken now. My jaw fr dropped when it was revealed that Nephthys got tricked by the mirror and I lowkey feel offended lol cause it was actually so obvious from the start the moment that damn mirror got introduced and we saw another Nephthys in that mirror. Osiris you son of a bitchhhh you and your stupid lil plans urghhh. All these damn gods are so human it hurts AAAAAAAAAAA
