For me i don't think it's missing something. It has a realistic feel to it. Not all relationships are dramatic . The uke being older by a good 10 years and just getting out of a long term relationship where his partner just up and left, of course his not going to be overly enthusiastic. The seme is a 20 year old college student, i understand why tge uke would think that he is wasted on him and giving him that condition.
