Well, he pretty much nonchalant to his brother since they were young. For example, he didn't shield his brother during the abuse. He started to care about his brother though it was too late. His brother was pushed to limit and 'safe haven' aka MC appeared during that moment caused him to be obsessed so much with MC.
MC knew they should hide their ability but he didn't tell his brother to hide the psychometry ability.
