Like the child version OBVIOUSLY affects the adult, but (as bad as it sounds and as unfair as it is) there also reaches a point in adulthood where u have to mature despite having a horrendous upbringing and sickening parents
SOOOO in this case, ML can suck it (derogatory, not literally), but his childhood self deserves all the empathy and understanding (ps i say child but i mean but until hes a real adult/frontal lobe developed for the most part)

I never understood that tatement because it obviously does affect the person in question.
If someone only knows violence and survival, they will act the part; becoming thieves, murders, offenders, etc. unless something challenges their mindset into seeking other pathways.
If someone who grows up with 0 problems and consequences in the world will act the part; Entitlement, snobby, arrogant, etc. until their world view is challenged and their curious about other routes.
Some people can clue something is off because there's no example of another way, they will be left pondering.
Someone with loving parents will never understand the environment without parents. A person without parents wouldn't understand an environment with parents.
I don't believe in that statement at all. It's just an excuse, but it also shouldn't be used as a defense.
A lot of people seem to not know this, but unless someone or something changes, you are what you're environment is. Many kind people with heavy trauma was guided by someone or something that pushed them in the right direction. A teacher, a book, a minor experience that one would like to continue having, etc.
They didn't just wake up and say "imma do good" but not know what "good" looks like. It's like hearing a word for the first time then using it because you heard it only once and liked it. Then you start looking into the word because you want to use it properly. After that, you now have a new word in your mental dictionary all because you experience it once.
