I have a question, in the novel did Hubbard and his friend (love interest) died or are they alive?
I remember in the novel, someone mentioned that they were missing and one of them (can’t remember who) was alive.
Plus the side story didn’t help other then they fall together?
Mostly implied that both are alive.
Yeah just as you said in the side story they fell together... The other characters think they are still alive, but the end is elusive... When I read I thought they died because in the plane right before Hubbard and Lu Feng were saying “there is no such luck (as dying together at the same time)” when Hubbard was talking about the death of his childhood friend, implying the surviving one had to bear the pain/grief. But I want to believe they are a happy couple in the Abyss
