See!! You can have a cute smexy yaoi manga without the need for rape. (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

i think the mangaka's only put rape in some of the yaoi's to make it more interesting and to really mix up your emotions, i dont think they do it deliberately to make the readers upset..in real life obviously rape is disgusting, in yaoi its also considered a disgusting thing but its just added to make the story have more to it...like take horror movies for example, no one likes the idea of someone being killed but because its just a story, people watch horror films. but i do agree that possibly too many yaoi's have rape in them and its let off to easily

I only hate yathat paints rape as something good and if it happens to someone they better enjoy it and if a dude rapes another dude, that's ok, he loves him. The mangas that show it as something bad and makes the rapist pay for their crimes and the victim getting through the trauma and ptsd like a champ, those i salute, although I never saw one before.

Why are you being so rude. I merely stated my opinion, I can read whatever I want and comment whatever I like, if I didn't like something I will say it. Plus the majority of mangas don't include the rape tag in the description? So yeah, when I expect to read a fully consentual, healthy relationship between two male adults and the mangaka keeps puttig rape here and there and never adresses it, that gets on my nerves.
Ps: you can NEVER seperate fiction from reality, unless the story is about fairies and freaking rainbow zombies.

Being able to "separate reality from fiction" is besides the point when societies and people within those societies don't agree on what that "reality" is or even want to talk about it.
It seems easy to label unless alcohol is involved and then it's not really rape or it's not as bad as "real" rape. If one person said yes and then changed their mind it becomes questionable. If it was oral sex but not vaginal or anal it's not really rape. I could go on and on. I've seen that same reasoning here on Mangago and age is not as big of a factor when you know that grown adults hold the exact same views. In Japan it's super difficult to even talk about sexual harassment assault on trains much less rape. A government minister recently said that sexual harassment doesn't even really exist. (Think of how many mangas we've read where it's treated as a joke.) And this is not unique to Japan.
I would hope that anyone over 18 would begin to realise that rape and others forms of sexual violence is actually a more complex issue than it may first seem to be. That it is worth questioning why a genre called "Boy's Love" written by mostly woman seem to find it difficult to imagine gay love without various forms of sexual violence and trauma. Fiction and reality influence each other to varying extents so that neat separation you present is not as defined as one may think.

People enjoy all kinds of stories that they wouldn't like to experience or endorse in real life. Do people who like murder shows or mysteries sick people? People who enjoy first shooter games? There have been a few studies on how women themselves enjoy rape fantasies. In part, this is what fiction is *for*: to explore the extreme, taboo, the chaotic and whatever.
It's important for us to be able to discuss these kinds of topics without conflating the person with their interest. One of the reasons persons are so resistant to talking about the prevalence of rape in BL is because they think that to say there may be something *wrong* with their interest means that they are wrong, and sick, and bad. That's not true. The reality is that there is hardly any media around that isn't problematic in some way. But being more thoughtful about it, and supporting creators who do that as well, will make the stories and our experience of them better. (Not so much with BL specifically but with other media from our own countries that share similar issues.)

Sick? Hmm....well many studies have shown that women have rape fantasies and yaoi is something that is directed towards women so I don't really know about that. I don't really expect yaoi to be extremely realistic as it's not something that is directed towards gays or in no ways represents them. Much like ecchi where women is shown to have unrealistic body proportions or their cloths being ripped off in really odd ways. No entertainment medium is accurate or "right" about everything. But hey you have all the rights to be offended.

Well, I'm sorry if you got offended by a comment that wasn't even directed to you. That's like looking to get offended and like what can I do there?
Thankfully other poster has explained a lot more eloquently why liking rape in a fictional setting is not sick, and why it's important to separate fiction from reality.
I honestly get concerned when people can't seem to grasp yaoi is not real and it's not meant to be an accurate representation of reality.
superhero movies have tropes
horror movies have tropes
yaoi has tropes
Just that, you should know this by now. Not liking it is fine, saying is wrong because blabla trigger is just stupid, just don't read it if it honestly affects you that much and problem solved.
