To claim love—real love—then turn around and choose someone else for power? To abandon the one you supposedly loved, only to watch them suffer, nearly die, and somehow still believe that your love means anything?
That’s not tragic. That’s not noble. That’s hubris—pure and staggering.
The kind that lets you betray someone, paint yourself as the victim, inflate your own significance, and still feel entitled to their forgiveness.
You didn’t just lose them. You gave them up. And when they survived—when they clawed their way out of the wreckage and rebuilt themselves without you—you mistook that strength as a sign that your love still mattered.
