Here is the full story if you're interested;

Long ago at the foot of a lonely mountain there lived a human who carried a quiet sorrow. Though their days were filled with work and small joys their heart often longed for something more.

In the heart of that mountain dwelled a great serpent. Some said it was a snake spirit as old as the rocks. Others whispered it was an imugi that had waited centuries to ascend. The serpent watched the human in silence and in time its heart filled with love.

One night under the full moon the serpent revealed itself. To its surprise the human did not run. They spoke gently and soon the two began to meet often beneath the pine trees. What began as curiosity grew into closeness and then into love.

But the human carried a burden. Their family was struck with illness and hunger and each day their despair grew heavier. Hearing this the serpent made its choice. It could pour out its essence to grant the human’s wish but to do so meant death.

The serpent did not hesitate.

That night storms gathered and the mountain trembled. The serpent gave its life-essence away until its body grew cold and weak. By morning the human’s family was saved. But beside the rocks the serpent’s body lay still its scales dull its breath gone.

The human fell to their knees and wept. Their wish had come true but at the cost of the one they loved most. They cried out to the heavens but the mountain gave no answer. Days turned into nights and still they lingered at the place where the serpent had died. Their grief hollowed them until their body withered and they too were gone.

The villagers who found them said the human had died with their arms wrapped around the serpent’s body as if refusing to let go even in death.

It is said no flowers grow on that patch of earth only twisted roots and silent stones. When the wind howls through the pines it carries a sound like weeping. Some call it the cry of the human’s soul. Others say it is the serpent mourning still.

What is certain is this, love bound them but love also destroyed them.
