On a less stellar note, is she really going to eat what that half-brother fetches from the banquet table for her ... a guy who picks his ear and ... did he actually eat it?
Also, can I add my voice to the growing list of concerned readers who wonder how Daddy is going to react when Cassis turns out not to be eaten to the bones by poisonous butterflies?
Either the FL is inarticulate and silly, or the translation makes no sense. Which is it?
LOL, I like this manga ... but I'm not reading it for the art. All along, the character designs have had a bit of that Bambi-look about them that puts me in mind of stories for younger children than the mature themes of the story itself seem to warrant. (Not those masterful watercolour backdrops by Tyrus Wong, but Thumper and Flower, et al.) That's okay, because the simple, clear art style has its own appeal, so I tempered my expectations accordingly. When the story says that the Empress was so impressed by the dress that she wanted to meet the designer and make him work for her right away, for example, I was not expecting the intricate Art Nouveau style used in "The Villainess is a Marionette". The story is centered around the clothing industry, so this art style doesn't have the right cachet. It's not surprising that readers seem disappointed in the result. I just don't know where the expectation for something more mature comes from.
I do have one nit, however, for the translation team. Those are roses embroidered in the dress, not peonies.
This is a good story. Hoping the hiatus won't stretch too long ...
Okie-dokie, change the genre already, but can you pick up the pace a little? Such as misunderstandings that happen between real adults, not middle schoolers?
There are such long hiatuses between segments of chapters, and the stories are such carbon copies of other stories, that I keep losing the plot and forgetting who the characters are and why I'm supposed to care. I'm a stuffy nose away from dropping this.
You can just drop it if you want, cuz the plot has a long way to go. If you really want to know the story, you can just read the novel. The title is the same. The novel is finishes so no more cliffhangers.
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. Your suggestion of reading the novel sounds like a good idea. At one time I read enough of the manhua that I made it up to this point, so it must have captured enough interest to do that. I just can't remember what it was that caught my attention and when there are hundreds of chapters to reread, I get a bit alarmed. (⌒▽⌒)
