Children who are insecure tend to hord things. No way they wouldn't have at least a few items stashed. A ribbon, picture, button, something that no one would miss and could be hidden anywhere.
I love this author, but not this story. None of the characters feel genuine or sincere. Plus, they are all manipulative, selfish and overly emotional.
I've held out, but I think I'm done.
The extra is like a crude joke. It is funny in the moment, but if I have to think about it, I'm sad.
They keep hinting at something dark or bad happening. So, I get worried. Then they subvert it and stay light. My stomach thanks you.
