I've once read a chinese bl novel author's note before where they previously posted a mature sex scene but pleaded her fans not to share it outside the platforms she published them on but someone still shared it on a social media and almost got them exposed to authorities. The author write anonymously but their work got popular. They manage to avoid jail time because they of that but the author got spooked and they no longer wrote sexy scenes on their later novels

They may have written them outside of China, not be making profits, or just haven't been caught. There was that website for a while where Chinese authors were posting on to avoid laws about profiting off sensually explicit works but a bunch of them were caught and arrested
